Certification shows you’ve finished your education, but aesthetic injector mentorship gives you hands-on, supervised practice with your own patients. You’ll get feedback on your assessment, treatment planning, technique, and how you handle anatomy that looks different from what you saw in class.

Why Can There Still Be a Gap After Certification?

Foundational BOTOX® and filler courses cover anatomy, indications, contraindications, consultation, and technique. When you treat real patients, you make decisions in the moment about movement, volume loss, asymmetry, treatment history, and expectations.

A staged model of procedural training published in Academic Medicine moves learners from knowledge and observation through practice, supervised patient care, and continued maintenance. A certification course covers only part of that progression. The practical question is whether you can turn course material into a clear plan while a patient is in front of you.

What Happens During Post-Certification Aesthetic Training?

Our Facial Aesthetics Mentorship is an in-person program for RNs, NPs, PAs, and physicians who’ve finished BOTOX and dermal filler training through AAAMS’ Hybrid Aesthetics 101 program or another accredited organization.

During the program, you:

• Bring your own patients to the AAAMS facility
• Work under on-site medical director supervision
• Use an equipped treatment room with administrative support
• Limit training procedures to BOTOX, dermal fillers, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion

With direct observation, your mentor can give you feedback on your consultation, preparation, injection technique, documentation, and any treatment adjustments while your patient is still in the room. You’ll still need to practice within your license, scope, and supervision rules.

Why Does Direct Feedback Matter?

Specific feedback helps you see what happened, where your performance differed from the goal, and what you can change next time. A meta-analysis found that feedback during procedural-skills training improved skill outcomes.

During supervised aesthetic training, your mentor can help you with details that are tough to judge on your own, like marking choices, hand position, injection depth, pacing, and knowing when to adjust your treatment plan.

What Logistics Should You Plan for in Beverly Hills?

AAAMS offers mentorship only at our Beverly Hills facility in Los Angeles. There’s no remote option. You’ll get eight supervised hours each month and can book weekday or weekend sessions. Unused hours don’t roll over, so you’ll want to plan your schedule and make sure your patients can travel to the facility.

California’s rules also shape the experience. The Medical Board of California emphasizes qualified medical personnel and physician supervision for delegated cosmetic treatments.

Your ability to practice legally depends on state regulations, employer policies, supervision rules, and malpractice requirements. Mentorship won’t replace those obligations.
