Here’s What Virtual Training for Aesthetic Medicine Looks Like

With the advent of COVID-19, the ability to attend continuing education courses in person has suffered greatly. The need for those courses, however, remains—and AAAMS is meeting that need with the first-of-their-kind virtual courses in aesthetic medicine.

Whether you’re new to aesthetic medicine or looking for more advanced instruction to hone your skills or add new services to your care arsenal, AAAMS has a course for you.

Right now, of course, it’s our virtual offering that is seeing the most demand. Here’s a brief intro on our CE Approved Virtual Aesthetics 101 course.

Virtual Aesthetics 101

AAAMS’s CE Approved Virtual Aesthetics 101 course is conducted by experienced physician instructor, Dr. Sam Assassa.

It’s a two-day comprehensive course that combines a Virtual Interactive Didactic session and a Virtual Hands-on Training session on facial aesthetics with certification for Botulinum Toxin (Botox®), dermal fillers and chemical peels. It’s intended for practitioners with minimal to no previous experience performing aesthetic procedures that are looking to acquire the proper knowledge, skills and certification to inject.

Day One

Through virtual interactive didactic learning, you’ll embark on a unique educational journey that will enrich your knowledge with the most up-to-date, comprehensive, yet concise thesis sessions.

The course implements a full range of interactive teaching tools, including powerpoint presentations, videos displaying anatomy on a cadaver, proper facial clinical assessment, and demos of aesthetic techniques on live patients.

In addition, the course will cover indications and contraindications of each aesthetic modality as well as how to avoid and manage complications. A Q&A session follows each session.

Day Two

After successfully completing the interactive virtual didactic session, the next step of your educational experience involves a full day of supervised, one-on-one, hands-on training.

Each trainee is individually trained by an educator expert in the field. This unique session gives you the opportunity to practice and master your aesthetic skills on a live patient as well as on mannequins. As you learn, the rest of class is virtually watching your performance to help enhance and accelerate the injection skills of the entire class.

A Botox assessment, marking, and the injection technique will be performed by you live on a local resident model of your choosing.

For dermal fillers, you’ll perform injections of the upper, mid, and lower facial regions on “Margaret,” a true-to-life human head mannequin that will be shipped to your home, along with all medical supplies needed to perform the injection technique at no extra cost to you.

Once again, each clinical case is followed by a detailed Q&A session.

Course prerequisite

Upon registration, all attendees are granted access to the online learning management system and enrolled in The Facial Aesthetics Master Program by Dr. Sam Assassa, President of The American Association of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery.

This online program is a comprehensive series of online training programs designed to provide members with a robust foundation for understanding facial aesthetics.

Dr. Assassa provides his knowledge and professional expertise with more than 15 hours of video training content to cover these essential facial aesthetic topics.

These self-paced courses serve as a prerequisite didactic session for the hands-on training course.

They provide a comprehensive understanding of contemporary facial aesthetics on both a fundamental and an advanced level.

These online aesthetics courses include a required final assignment to measure your level of understanding and test your knowledge. They also help prepare attendees for the Aesthetics 101 hands-on session and maximize AAAMS’s entire approach to facial aesthetics.

At the successful completion of Virtual Aesthetics 101, each participant will receive a digital certificate of satisfactory completion of the course followed by a virtual graduation ceremony and class photos of all participants.

And we don’t stop there. AAAMS is also here to support you in your work as a newly certified aesthetic medicine practitioner. From networking, to support in opening or expanding your practice, our staff is always available to help answer questions and offer advice. See more about our membership benefits here.
